FLATS PLAN FOR SHOPS
Property company Castle Mound Estates applied for planning permission to convert the space above Country Flowers, Bargain Booze and the former Post Office into five one-bedroom apartments. Each flat would have an open plan living room and kitchen, bathroom and a double bedroom. No car parking spaces would be included. Local residents were critical of the company’s statement that this would encourage people to use public transport.
PRIDE AT THE CASTLE
Over 750 people attended the first Youth Pride event for Monmouthshire’s young LGBT+ community at Caldicot Castle. The event was sponsored by MCC and attended by council leader Peter Fox and local MP Jessica Morden. 15-year-old Charley, one of the organisers, said: “Today’s event is a nice way to bring the LGBT community together, to promote individuality and diversity and help people learn new things.”
