CONCERTS AT THE CASTLE
Thousands of music fans flocked to Caldicot Castle for a series of concerts. 15,000 people attended the concert headlined by girl band Little Mix in possibly the biggest event ever held in Caldicot. Thousands more attended concerts featuring Ocean Colour Scene and local band, Rusty Shackle.

GOODBYE TO OLD SCHOOL
Hundreds of ex-pupils and former members of staff attended a special fete and open day at Caldicot Comprehensive School to mark the closure of the old school buildings, pending the completion of the new school building.

CONCERNS OVER WASTE TREATMENT PLANT
Local residents held meetings to raise objections to proposals to build a “waste incinerator” at Caldicot’s Severnbridge Industrial Estate. DPS Process Solutions Limited, sought permission to install two 15.5 metre-high chimneys which would burn up to 20,000 tonnes of waste per year on the former Tata steel site. Monmouthshire County Council leader Cllr Peter Fox criticised the lack of public consultation.

AWARD FOR CASTLE
Caldicot Castle was given the Green Flag Award in recognition of its environmental work.

HOUSE PRICE WATCH
The cheapest property advertised on www.rightmove.co.uk for sale in Caldicot at the end of June 2017 was a one bedroom apartment in Sandy Lane at £104,950. The cheapest house was a one bedroom cluster house in Grove Gardens, Church Road, at £115,950. The most expensive was a four bedroom detached house in Wentwood View at £320,000.
