MIXED RESULTS FOR SCHOOLS IN ANNUAL BANDING
In the annual assessments of primary schools issued by the Welsh Government, two of Caldicot’s schools were rated yellow, the second highest grade, while two were placed in the amber band, the third of the four bands. Dewstow Primary rose from amber to yellow, while Durand Primary maintained its yellow status. Castle Park Primary and Ysgol Y Ffin remained in the amber band.

POP UP SUCCESS
The pop-up shop scheme organised by Caldicot Town Team was heralded a great success. Under the scheme local business were able to hire premises in the town centre at a nominal rent for a fortnight to test viability.

LITTLE MIX AT THE CASTLE
There was a rush for tickets after it was announced that girl band Little Mix would be performing at Caldicot Castle in July. The event was quickly sold out.

PIGEON PROBLEMS
The large number of pigeons gathering in the town centre continued to cause problems. Notices asking people not to feed the birds were posted.

HOLOCAUST REMEMBERED
Caldicot Library held an event on Holocaust Memorial Day to commemorate the genocide against the Jews by the Nazis and subsequent genocidal campaigns, including Rwanda, Darfur and Bosnia.
