TEACHER GUILTY OF INDECENT IMAGES CHARGE
Matthew Harris, an IT teacher at Caldicot Comprehensive School, was found guilty of possessing indecent images on his computer, some of which included children. He had pleaded guilty to the charges and was given a three year community order.  The school released a statement emphasising that none of the images involved pupils at the school.

PARENTS WARNED AFTER POSSIBLE ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION
A 12 year old girl was asked to get into a car by four teenagers in what may have been an attempted abduction. The incident took place in Firs Road Caldicot on 6 October. Police stated that they were anxious to speak to the driver and occupants of a ‘first generation’ Ford Focus.

COST OF NEW SCHOOL MOUNTS
It was announced that the Welsh Government and Monmouthshire County Council were each to contribute a further £5 million to allow the completion of the building of new secondary schools at Caldicot and Monmouth.

VANDALISM AT LIBRARY
Overnight on 20/21 October a window in a rear door at Caldicot Library was shattered while on the night of 26/27 October damage was caused to a chain/padlock to the compound at the rear of the Library. Within the compound a cherry picker had its cable cut. This was one of a number of acts of criminal damage caused recently at the building. Police asked anyone with any information regarding this or any other reported incidents to come forward and ring Gwent Police on 101.

PLAN TO MONITOR TOWN TEAM
Severnside Area Committee met to draw up criteria for assessing the impact of Caldicot Town Team, which was granted £41,000 “Section 106” money from the building of the Asda supermarket with the aim of regenerating the town centre.

FOOD FESTIVAL
More than 30 stallholders exhibited their produce at the third Monmouthshire Food Fair, held at Caldicot Castle.

HOUSE PRICE WATCH
The cheapest property advertised on www.rightmove.co.uk for sale in Caldicot at the end of October 2016 was a one bedroom apartment in Church Road at £79,950. The cheapest house was a three bedroom semi-detached house in Westfield at £152,950. The most expensive was a four bedroom detached house in Fairfield Close at £330,000.
