CUP FINAL DISTURBANCE
Police were called following a disturbance at the end of the Gill Cup final between Caldicot Town and Underwood Athletic at the Jubilee Way ground. It was reported that following Underwood’s 2-1 victory both teams were chased from the pitch and a bottle was thrown.

PAEOPHILE SENTENCED
Kevin Williams (44) of Blackbird Road Caldicot was sentenced to 16 months in prison for sexually touching a teenage girl and taking indecent images of her. Williams, who lived in Cirencester at the time of the offence, was found to have 750,000 indecent images on his computer.

COUNCIL REJECTS HOUSING PROPOSAL
Caldicot town council recommended rejection of an application to build 220 houses on the old paper mill site at Sudbrook. The council’s objections were based upon fears of inadequate access to and from Sudbrook and the heavier burden on local services such as schools.

FROM CALDICOT TO SYRIA
Monmouthshire charity ‘Ineed’, which works out of a building in Caldicot, sent its third container of humanitarian supplies to Syria. This brought the total weight of clothing, food and other supplies to 60 tonnes.

HOUSE PRICE WATCH
The cheapest property advertised on www.rightmove.co.uk for sale in Caldicot at the end of March 2016 was a two bedroom flat in Sandy Lane at £120,000. The cheapest house was a three bedroom terraced house in Denny View at £124,950. The most expensive was a five bedroom detached house in Wentwood View at £369,950.
