BIKER KILLED ON CHRISTMAS DAY
49 year old David Evans of Caldicot died from head injuries after his motorcycle was involved in an accident on the M4 at Newport on Christmas Day.

PLAN FOR SHOPS AND PUB
The Robert Hitchens Group, owners of Castlegate Business Park on the outskirts of Caldicot, submitted a proposal to Monmouthshire County Council planners for four shops and a pub to be built on the site.

SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOLLOWS FIRE
A Caldicot woman suffering from depression and alcohol abuse was given an eleven month suspended sentence after she had deliberately set fire to a mattress in her home.

CALDICOT FOOD BANK
In the twelve months up to November 2015 Caldicot food bank issued enough parcels to feed 609 people. During December, a choir from Caldicot School, directed by Sara Humber, head of music, sang at Waitrose supermarket to raise money for the food bank.

MORE USE RAIL TRAVEL
The Office of Road and Rail released figures to show that in 2014/15 there were 96,000 ‘entries and exits’ at Caldicot Halt, a 3.3% increase on the previous year, and a 61% increase on 2004. 238,634 ‘entries and exits’ were recorded at Severn Tunnel Junction.

HOUSE PRICE WATCH
The cheapest property advertised on www.rightmove.co.uk for sale in Caldicot at the end of December 2015 was a one bedroom ground floor flat in Sandy Lane at £99,950. The cheapest house was a two-bedroom semi-detached house in Burns Crescent at £144,950. The most expensive was a four bedroom detached house in Heol Glaslyn at £369,000.
